Alaska is the most northern state in North America. It is one of the wildest regions of the planet. Who wants to visit Alaska is because of the wildlife. The northern third of the country is inside the arctic circle. It is one of the planet areas, where is possible to see the aurora borealis or northern lights.

The territory offers wonderful landscapes. An incredible succession of forests that form the tundra. In the northern side, tundra becomes taiga.  That is the Arctic region.

Alaska is famous because of the gold rush in the Klondike. And from the gold race even become the passion, and now the national sport, the Dog Mushing.

The 49td American State is a land must be visited one time in the life. Especially if you are wildlife lover.

1      Denali National Park and Preserve

The first of 5 main attractions in Alaska is Denali National Park. It is located 380 km north of Anchorage. It is the main park in Alaska and inside there is the mount Denali. Denali is its name in native language it is meaning “the high one”.

It has an extension of 6 million acres and is divided into three parts. Denali Wilderness, Denali National Park, and Denali national preserve. The area dedicated to the tourism is the Denali Wilderness. Inside there are many camping areas and two tourist centers.

In the park, the fauna is typical of the northern regions. There are Brown and Black bears, elk, moose, wolf, wolverine, lynx, and coyote.

2      Kenai Fjords National Park

The second of 5 main attractions in Alaska is the Kenai Fjords National Park. It is located on the Kenai Peninsula. It is around 200 km to the south of Anchorage.

The characteristic of the park and where his name come from is the fjords. 38 glaciers move in direction of the coast and draw the beautiful Kenai fjords. The Park area is 119,000 acres and is one of most beautiful parks in Alaska. The fauna inside is the same as Denali in the inland. But more then Denali there is the aquatic fauna. The aquatic fauna includes killer whales, sea otter, harbor seal and Steller sea lion, fin whale, humpback whale, minke whales, Dall’s porpoise and Pacific white-sided dolphin.

The better moment to observe the aurora borealis is the winter. When the weather is cold and darker. The better place where to see in Alaska is Fairbanks but can be visible in the whole state. If you can is suggested to use a tour operator and go to the north of Fairbanks. Near the Arctic circles, there are places where to stay safe and comfortable. So you will have the better opportunity of watching northern lights.

4        Wrangell-St. Elias National Park

The fourth of 5 main attractions in Alaska is the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. It is the largest park of Alaska. It is 13 million acres and is located in southern Alaska. The more impressive thing is the area covered by glaciers.It is the 35% of the park and includes some of the impressive glaciers of the state. So you have to plan a visit of the glaciers.

Another place to visit is the Kennecott Area, that is considered Mines National Historic Landmark.

The fifth of 5 main attractions in Alaska is the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. It is a Park created to celebrate the gold rush era. The Golden Rush era was an important step in the US history. In this remote and heavy region, thousands of people spent his life to searching gold.

The Park is structured to receive and drive the visitors in a historical route.
