Kenya territory is divided in counties for the administration but for to understand better the geography we need to considerate the provinces. In total the provinces are eight: Central, Coast, Eastern, Nairobi 5. North Eastern, Nyanza, Rift Valley, Western.
I will illustrate the major attractions imagining a safari, so will start now from the top of Rift Valley we will go down in the south direction up to meet Tanzania border. Then we will do another imaginary itinerary up to cover all the Parks and reserves.
One of most important is the Rift Valley, at the top, there is the Lake Turkana, fascinating place in the desert. Famous because of his blue waters, and for to a site where was discovered some important hominin fossils. Like the famous Turkana boy, the oldest is the Australopithecus Anamensis, discovered by Meave Leakey and has been dated 4 million years ago.
In the lake, there are many Nile crocodile and quantity of fishes. Fauna includes zebras, gazelles, topis and reticulated giraffe. It is the biggest salted water lake in the world, and the world biggest desert permanent lake.
If you desire to visit Lake Turkana, we suggest using a flight service. So you don’t need to stay days in travel in the desert.
However, if you like the adventure, it is a good idea to go by road, but using a trustable agency.
In case, if you want to go alone or with a car driving you, take information about the security of the road.
Up to Lake Baringo usually, there is no problem. Beyond, up to Turkana sometimes can be tribal troubles. So is better to ask at the authority, KWS is good for this.
Your Kenya safari can now move in the south direction looking for places more civilized. The first place you will find is Lake Baringo. Beautifull place, the lake as Lake Turkana don’t have any emissary, so the level is floating between decades.
It is inhabited by the tribes of Pokots, Tugens, Endorois, and Ilchamus but there are even more other tribes in the urban centers. Presents in the lake are the crocodiles and hippopotamus. More than four hundreds birds species are recognized and in the lake, there is fish abundance.
The watercolor is depended on the season but never is transparent. activity suggested is the visit of Pokot traditional village, one of the smallest tribes in Kenya. Another activity is to explore the lake by boat, it is a very nice experience. Finally is one of the only two lakes of fresh water in Rift Valley.
A good reason for to visit Lake Baringo is the low numbers of tourists presents.
Can follow your Kenya safari with a short journey, in around 40 km by road you will meet Lake Bogoria.
Lake Bogoria is a traditional tourist destination, it is saline and alkaline water and is alimented by two rivers and quantities of hot springs. Characteristics of the lake are the Geiser presence, to see the Bogoria Gaisers is related to the water level. But the main attraction is the seasonal arriving of millions of flamingoes, creating a spectacular landscape.
We arrive now in the highlands of Kenya. The Lake Nakuru National Park is the more important lake of Kenya.
The alkaline lake guesses pelicans and the flamingoes, and around the lake, there is the National Park. Here you can meet, for the first time on your safari, some of the important wild animal species present in Kenya.
There are the white rhinoceros, followed by the black rhinoceros, Hyppoes, buffaloes, Giraffes, hyenas, waterback, leopards, cheetahs, baboons and so on.
This is one of the two premium parks in Kenya, the other is Amboseli. It is even like a sanctuary, it has fenced for to prevent poaching.
After just around 20 kilometers on the Nakuru-Nairobi road, we meet the Lake Elmenteita. It is a beautiful place but it pay the nearly with Lake Nakuru so tourism is small here. Fauna is limited to the zebra, gazelles, warthogs, and elan. It is very nice to stay and rest in the peaceful lodges around the lake, in a serenity atmosphere looking the Lake landscape.
Other some kilometers and your Kenya safari will meet the last lake on the road, the Lake Naivasha. It is the second Lake of the two with fresh water. This is the reason because the farmers have started to produce here cut flowers, one of the major resources of the country.
The Lake guess 400 species of birds and the relative distance from Nairobi make Naivasha a bird watching sanctuary. It is present even a great population of Hyppoes.
Now your Kenya safari requires a long and uncomfortable trip up to Masai Mara. Especially the last part of the trip is in real African offroad.
So if you don’t like this be patient and look outside the beautiful landscape of the African nature. Or, if you prefer, from Naivasha you can take a flight for Masai Mara.
Masai Mara is not a park, Is National Reserve. It is a very nice reserve and is famous because of the great migration of the wildebeests. It is part of the Serengeti transnational ecosystem.
Characteristic are the lions which the males with has a large mane. Present in the park all the big five, elephant, rhinoceros, buffaloes, lions and leopards.

Many of these were been instituted in recent years, for to protect flora and fauna from poachers and uncontrolled grazing.
The reserve is very nice and is seated at around 1000 mt of altitude. The reserve guesses elephants, buffaloes, hippos, gazelles, impalas, waterbuck, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs and many more.

Undervalued acclimatization is a common mistake, and probably you can’t arrive at the summit.
Aberdare National Park
Now we want to introduce you another park visited by a smaller number of tourists. The reason probably is in the nature of the park.
The park is set in the Aberdare Mountain Range in an altitude variable between 2.100 and 4.300 mt. It is a mountain park and so it is different from the open savannah.

But we remarked the absolute beauty of the Park. is possible to sight elephants, hippos, hyenas, buffaloes, cheetah, lions, leopards and so on.
