Peru adventure – the country

Peru adventure

Today we travel to South America to visit a wonderful nation, Peru. We will dedicate more than one post in the future. Let’s start by saying that Peru is a nation that has 4 different ecosystems. And that is the sea, the sierra, the selva and the desert.

Peru adventure – Ocean

The sea is the Pacific ocean that lays all the west coast from north to south. At the naturalistic level are interesting Balestras islands, a small group of small islands. Are just on front Pisco town and just above Paracas National Reserve. In these islands, several animal species of the marine world are sheltered. Most of all sea lions, darts, penguins, and Blue-footed Booby.

Peru adventure – Desert

The desert ecosystem, however, develops along virtually all the coast from north to south. While being a common one is usually distinguished in two areas. The north and south where the north is called Sechura desert. While the south coastal desert of Peru. Most noteworthy the desert area extends far beyond the Peruvian border. In Chilean territory it form the famous Atacama desert.

Peru adventure – Selva

The third ecosystem is the selva. It is a very important area of our planet. In fact, it is nothing else than Amazon part in the Peruvian territory. The wilderness in Peru has two different bands. The first between the 1,500 and 500 meters of altitude. The second is the plain area where the great rivers. They gather the waters coming down impetuously from the great mountains of the Sierra. Consequently, begin the slow running in meanders of the rainforest. Needless to say the importance of this area. All around the world should know is the green lung of the earth. Our largest oxygen factory.

Peru adventure – Sierra

The last ecosystem of Peru is the Sierra. It is the band that includes the Cordillera with the big mountains. For those who do not know, it is a real adventure ground. Not only for experienced mountaineers but also for trekkers. In fact, the best trekking takes place around or in the vicinity of the big mountains. And are characterized by the odds that can be reached simply by walking. They also take pass up to 5000 meters on footpaths or mule tracks.

It is to be said that the Andean people inhabit these territories up to 4,500 altitudes. And therefore it is very likely that when you meet them you will feel small. You with their troubled breathing and those who move cheerfully without apparent effort.

Obviously, everything depends on the acclimatization that you will be able to do. Our advice for those who are willing to do these adventures is to prepare well. You need then spend some time on the acclimatization. Then leave for your hiking trip that it may last for weeks.  I hope in a future post to be able to better illustrate how to prepare yourself and how to live an Andean adventure.

Peru adventure – the Inca culture

To complete the country’s picture, though it’s not strictly related to the wild theme. We explain the other features of Peru. They are really many that match trekking with a cultural visit to the country. Peru is rich in archaeological history. There are a lot of sites to visit to see what remains of ancient Inca civilization.

Peru classic

The ruins of the ancient Inca civilization are everywhere. And above all is possible to understand the unfortunate Spanish domination.
The classical area to be visited includes Arequipa, Nazca, Cuzco which is named the navel of the world. A magical place I guarantee you. From where you go to visit the Sagrado Valley and the unmissable Machu Pichu. If you still have a little do not miss Puno on Lake Titicaca.  It is at 3800 meters altitude like Cuzco and is the highest altitude water lake in the world.

If you want to add some adventure you can reach Machu Pichu doing the Inca Trail. It is a beautiful trekking proposed in 2 days but also in 4 or 7 days. Our suggest is the 7 days long but will depend on your attitude. There is a pass at 4.200 mt ASL, therefore evaluate this before to book.

Peru the big trekkings

In Peru, there are two areas famous in the world, it is the Cordillera Blanca and the Cordillera Huayhuash.

In both places is possible to do trekkings for everyone. There are the easy trekking and the hard trekking. More then Inca trail is important the acclimatization. You can stay for days walking around 4.000 mt ASL and do pass near 5.000 ASL.  In Huaraz, there are the Mountain Guides qualified to drive you in trekking or climbing.

Peru adventure in the jungle

Peru is even adventure in the jungle, the Amazonas forest is a big attraction. The main tows in Peru is the Amazonas region is Iquitos. Is located on the banks of Rio Amazonas. From Iquitos starts a lot of itineraries in the jungle. Is possible even to arrive by boats to Manaus in Brazil. Amazonas culture is a bit different from Sierra or classic Peru. Need to be discovered, is a unique experience.

The video we propose for this post concerns a commercial adventure. It’s rafting on the Apurimac River and we chose it because of beautiful pictures. But also to show that anything sporty or wild in Peru is definitely of a high standard. Just you need to evaluate the agencies will use. In this case, rafting, for example, they are facing fast to level V. We would like to point out that we have no business relationship with this company.

So as you see reasons to go wild or cultural in Peru there are many. We certainly recommend it and in the upcoming posts on Peru, I hope to deepen the theme and knowledge of this wonderful country.
